Several Bearcub wrestlers headed to state competition

MORGANTOWN—Several members of the Grafton Bearcub youth wrestling team will be headed to Beckley this weekend, to compete in the 2018 West Virginia State Wrestling Tournament. This year the youth organization will be sending 16 wrestlers to Beckley to see if they can bring home the top honors.

In order to compete in the state event, the wrestlers had to finish in the top six in their class at regionals. This season, the regionals were held at University High School in Morgantown. The Bearcubs had a very impressive day, as all of their wrestlers that competed in Morgantown made it into the state competition.

In the youth division the wrestlers that earned the honor of going to states were Autumn Knotts, Christian Cox, Javon Vanscoy, Dylan Gutshall, Garrett Davis, Cade Mooney, Ian Glaspell, Maverick Bartch, JW Nestor, Brayton Davis, Luke Knotts and Isaiah Glaspell.

Eli Shumaker (independent), Aiden Sheme, Jeremiah King and Hunter Stanley all advanced into the state competition.

The Grafton Wrestling Club would like to congratulate all of their wrestlers and coaches, and wish them the best of luck this weekend.
