Roger Lee Layman, 78 of Flemington, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at United Hospital Center.
He was born June 14, 1939, in Fairmont, son of the late Clarence and Mary Heiskell Layman. Roger will be deeply missed by his wife of fifty six years, Nancy Virginia Fleming Layman whom he married February 18, 1961; one son, Randy Layman and wife Nancy, Simpson; one daughter, Bobbie Jo LaFontaine and husband Howie, Simpson; five grandchildren, Amber Jones and husband Josh, Simpson, Clark Brandon Sinclair and wife Ashley, Moundsville, Christopher Brian Sinclair and Megan Koster, Alexandria, VA, Justin Matthew Sinclair and wife Jessica, Bridgeport, Alex LaFontaine and fiancé Andria Davisson, Simpson; four great grandchildren, Kohlton, Kaitlyn, Kamdyn, and Deacon; son-in-law, Clark Delbert Sinclair, Grafton; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Jean Layman Sinclair on January 29, 2016; two sisters, Judy Layman and Norma Stallman; one brother, Howard Layman.
He was a member of the Long Run Fellowship Church of Simpson for the past fifty years. He worked as a meat cutter at Garden Fresh in Grafton and Foodland in both Grafton and Bridgeport.
Roger enjoyed spending time with his family, worshiping his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and collecting family photos and family history. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 1, 2017, from 3-8 PM, at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave. Grafton.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Bartlett Funeral Home with Pastor Jamie Gizzi officiating. Interment will follow at Simpson Cemetery.
