Rita Lou Phillips Haessly, 85, of Oberlin, Ohio, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020 at Kendal Retirement Village in Oberlin.
She was born September 9, 1934, in Grafton, daughter of the late Cecil Warner and Juanita Orr Phillips.
Rita Lou was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, William J. Haessly, in 1985, and her son, William J. Haessly, Jr., on April 7, 2020.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Young, of Oberlin, and her nephews Ray and Rex Young.
She was predeceased by a sister, Nita Marie, who died as a child, and a brother Cecil Warner, Jr.
Rita Lou grew up and attended school in Grafton, graduating from Grafton High school as class Salutatorian in 1952. She attended Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She lived over the years in Ohio, North Carolina, and Florida. Rita Lou was for a time employed by the Internal Revenue Service. She loved professional baseball and was adept at working with stained glass. She also enjoyed writing stories, usually fantasy.
