TAYLOR COUNTY—Determined to show the community the skillset of her dancers, Caitlin Blair vowed that the show would go on, and recently, the hard work and dedication of her students was displayed during Rising Starz Studio’s annual Spring Showcase.
“Most indoor facilities were closed or only had limited seating, so we had to get creative,” Blair shared. “We decided to host an outdoor performance at the Taylor County Fairgrounds.”
During the event, the studio teamed up with local vendors, including Grafton Floral and the Taylor County Lions Club, to help make the showcase a success.
“The citizens of Taylor County have always been so supportive of my dancers, singers, musicians and performers that I try to bring revenue back to the county as much as possible,” Blair voiced. “So, by teaming up with local entities, I can do just that!”
And because of the spacious outdoor venue, friends and family members of the Starz were able to attend safely, enjoying the fresh air as they took in performances by the youths, all while practicing safe social distancing.
Rising Starz Studio focuses on various forms of dance, including Tap, Hip Hop, Ballet, Lyrical, Jazz, Baton and Tumbling, as well as offering a High Rollers class for students with limited mobility.
But that’s not where the fun stops at the studio, as Blair wants to help foster a love for the arts, offering musical theater, as well.
The group consists of several very talented young individuals, ages ranging from seven to 14-year-olds, who not only dance but take the stage to showcase their talents in acting and singing.
This year, her musical theater group starred in an original production called “Where’s My Happily Ever After?” Blair shared that the show is take on The Dating Game, where everyone has a chance at finding love, even the bad guys.
Blair, assisted by Patricia Allison of Music with Miss Patty, wrote and choreographed the production.
To further showcase the talents of her students, Blair revealed that Rising Starz Studio will host a Dinner Theater Show for this production on Saturday, August 7 for the community to enjoy.
The show, which will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m., is set to take the stage at the Taylor County Senior Citizens, Inc., located at 52 Trap Springs Road, Grafton.
Not only will guests be able to take in a great show, but they will also be treated to a delicious dinner consisting of rigatoni, salad, bread and dessert.
Tickets are on sale now for the event and will cost guests just $15 per person. There will be a limited number of tickets available at the door, so be sure to claim yours early!
