Richard Wayne “Rick” Brown Jr., 61, of Flemington, WV, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020. He was born in Clarksburg on April 26, 1958, a son of Shirley J. (McCauley) Brown of Flemington and the late Richard W. “Dick” Brown Sr.
In addition to his mother, Rick is survived by one daughter, Dana Michelle and her children Jackson and Anna of NC; one brother, Michael Brown of Clarksburg; one sister, Tammie Satterfield and husband Jim of Clarksburg; niece Jamie Satterfield and her children Mason and Katie of Bridgeport; uncle, Merle Robert Brown of Rosemont; very special neighbors who were like family, Jody and Kristen Everett and their family; as well as many cousins.
Rick was a graduate of Flemington High School Class of 1976, and then served his country honorably in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, NC. He attended Fairmont State College and then worked at Fourco Glass and later Winfield Plastics. Rick loved music and was in the percussion ensemble and played bass guitar in school. He attended the Festival of Americas in Nassau, Bahamas with his high school band where they received 1st place in percussion and 3rd in wind sympathy in the country, something he was very proud to be a part of. He loved playing guitar and played with the Sam Bettini Band at Green Acres many times. Rick also enjoyed fishing, loved animals, and loved reading especially about history. He was a wonderful caring soul with a good heart, who would do anything to help others.
A military graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at noon at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown. Family and friends will begin gathering at 11:45 a.m., at the main entrance to the cemetery.
