KNOTTSVILLE—After being put on a short hiatus, the Paradise Cove Community Center Board welcomed residents to the return of their famous buckwheat cake dinner, and the event was a smashing success.
“The Paradise Cove Community Center thanks you,” exclaimed Board President Duretha Mayle. “We had a tremendous turnout for the dinner!”
She said in total, the organization dished up just over three hundred meals to hungry residents.
“We served up 302 dinners, which is just completely amazing,” Mayle voiced. “We just want to thank the community again for all of their support!”
In addition to showing gratitude for those who came and make the dinner a success, the board also wished to thank the volunteers that helped cook, serve and clean up during the day.
And with a successful return of the delicious dinner, held twice a year, the Paradise Cove Community Center Board has already set their sights on their fall event.
“Mark your calendars, because our Fall Buckwheat Dinner will be held October 8-9,” Mayle revealed. “We hope to see you there!”
While the occurrence is months away, she shared that she would like to remind residents that their newly renovated building is up for rental.
For 35 years residents have been gathering for baby showers, bridal showers, birthday parties, fundraising dinners and festive breakfasts at the Paradise Cove Community building.
Built by community members on land donated by Ruth Collins, the building has been the site of many memories made. When the structure fell victim to settling lands after the mine made their way underneath, individuals decided they needed to step in and help make needed repairs.
According to Mayle, Paradise Cove Community Board President, a newer and more modern building was erected in place of the aging and damaged facility.
Not only will guests be welcomed by a beautiful exterior and spacious interior, but the Paradise Cove Community building will also now offer some extra special amenities.
“We have all new appliances, including a gas stove and griddle, refrigerator, ice maker and coffee maker. We are also able to offer air conditioning, as well as heat, so that events can be enjoyed year-round,” explained Mayle. “And with room for approximately 100 people, the new center is the perfect place to host your family gatherings, parties, dinners or fundraisers.”
The Paradise Cove Community Center is located at 384 Paradise Cove Road, in the Knottsville area of Taylor County. With ample parking, new amenities and a spacious area, it is sure to be a great location for your next gathering.
“We have plenty of dates available, so give us a call to claim yours today,” Mayle voiced.
Those wishing to utilize the facility will need to call Marge at 304-265-1419 to check on available dates. Information can also be found on the organization’s Facebook page.
