In this edition of Reed Between the Lines: Grafton Bearcats Senior Athlete Braeden Nose
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I play football and baseball at GHS. I work at Phil’s Tire and Auto in Grafton. I love this town and I love the people. I spend time with my family and my girlfriend when I can.
You participate in a couple of different sports. Which one is your favorite and why?
I participate in baseball and football. Football is my favorite sport, and I truly enjoy it whether it I am watching it or playing it.
Who is your favorite sports hero and why?
Hunter Renfrow, WR for the Oakland Raiders. Before that he was a starter at Clemson who earned his scholarship while playing for the Tigers.
What would you say to one of your teammates who is really struggling to perform on a particular day?
“Hey man we need to pick it up today, to get better. Everyone is doing what we are doing right now so let’s get it.”
What is your favorite movie about sports?
Friday Night Lights.
What is the most bizarre question you have ever been asked by someone about a sport in which you participate?
“On your team, who do you prefer at QB?”
What is the one thing you always do after winning a big game?
Smile, and reflect on it to see what I could have done better. And of course, celebrate.
What are your best and worst memories in athletics?
My best memory was starting my sophomore year and catching a pass and hearing that crowd at our home game. My worst was probably making it to two Pee Wee football championships and losing both times.
What do you do to calm your butterflies before an event?
I don’t even think about it because it’s nothing I haven’t done before.
If you could be a successful professional athlete in any sport, what sport would you choose?
Football, hands down.
What one word or phrase do you think describes you?
Which sport comes the easiest to you? Which one do you have to work at the hardest?
Football comes the easiest to me, but I also have to work hard at it to get to where I want to be.
You get to spend the day with anyone (past or present), who do you choose and why?
My Nana because she shaped me into a great person I am today.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Hopefully a few years into my career that I hope to start after high school.
What do you think you do well as an athlete?
I’m a good playmaker and team contributor.
What do you think you need to work on as an athlete?
Controlling my emotions at times.
Where is your favorite away venue to play a sport?
East/West Stadium because it’s close and really gives a stadium vibe.
What’s our record going to be this season in football? Should I go ahead and reserve my hotel room in Wheeling?
With the talent we have there should be no reason for ending the season anything but positive. Go ahead and reserve that hotel because Wheeling has a good chance of seeing the Bearcats.
Should kids concentrate on a single sport or play multiple sports?
Play as many as you can to get the feel for any sport you may want to play in the future.
What did you think of these questions?
They went into depth and there’s nothing wrong with that.
