In this edition of Reed Between the Lines: Grafton Bearcats Wrestler Noah Allman
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am a GHS student athlete and wrestler.
When did you start wrestling?
I started wrestling when I was eight years old.
What is your favorite movie about sports?
Who is the best wrestler you have ever wrestled against?
My practice partner my freshman and sophomore year, Noah Hodges.
Who is the funniest player on the team and why?
I’d have to say most likely Garrett Williams. He can just turn your day around and knows how to break the silence.
What is one rule change that you’d most like to see happen in high school wrestling?
Riding time. I’m really good from the top position and I ride out all the time so it would be easy points.
What are your best memories in athletics?
It’s hard to choose one memory but I could never forget walking into Big Sandy Arena for states. You could just feel the energy and it’s the best feeling ever being able to wrestle in front of hundreds of people.
What is the outlook for this year’s wrestling team?
I think we have a pretty good team with the great coaching we have in Coach Keith Zebley and Coach Rod Auvil coming back as his assistant. We should be pretty good, we have eight kids that got to states and at least three placed.
You get to spend the day with anyone (past or present), who do you choose and why?
Patrick Swayze is one I’d like to spend the day with just because it’s Patrick Swayze and he’s a stud. And Spencer Lee and Austin Desanto, mainly because they’re really good wrestlers and they seem like cool people and I think I could learn a lot from them.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I see myself with a degree in Physical Education, and coaching wrestling somewhere
What do you think you do well as a wrestler?
I’m really good on my feet and on top.
What do you think you need to work on as a player?
Definitely speed and bottom movement.
Where is your favorite away venue to wrestle?
I love states and wrestling at Big Sandy Arena is the greatest.
What did you think of these questions?
They were really good questions and I enjoyed them.
*Each week the Mountain Statesman features a coach, player or personality from Taylor County. We hope you enjoy the chance to learn a little bit more about them.
