Past parade pictures sought

GRAFTON—The Mountain Statesman and the West Virginia Memorial Day Committee are seeking pictures from past Memorial Day Celebrations.

The pictures will be used for the Memorial Day program and the Mountain Statesman’s special Memorial Day section, to celebrate the 150-year history.

Bryson Taylor Advertising Manager for the Mountain Statesman said, “We are very excited to be working with the West Virginia Memorial Day Committee on their program, as well as our special Newspaper section, devoted to this patriotic event.”

Taylor continued, “As we started brainstorming, we realized we wanted to capture the milestone of the 150th Anniversary, by looking back on celebrations past.”

While the newspaper does have a great catalogue of photographs, many of their older photographs were lost during a fire several years ago.

“That is why we are appealing to our community to help us by sending us scans or stopping by with photographs that we can immediately scan and give back,” shared Taylor.
