Old WVU Coliseum Seats to be Sold

MORGANTOWN—In conjunction with the Mountaineer Athletic Club, the West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is offering fans the opportunity to own a piece of basketball history by purchasing the old WVU Coliseum seats.
14,000 new seats will be purchased to replace the current seats, which were installed when the Coliseum was built in 1970. The seats are a gift as a result of the Climbing Higher Campaign from Ken and Jennifer Mason of Alma, West Virginia.
The blue seats are being sold “as is” and consist of only the plastic back and bottom. The shared metal armrests and bases of the chairs cannot be included in the sale due to the way the seating was originally installed when the Coliseum first opened 50 years ago.
Current WVU basketball season ticket holders can purchase their actual seat(s) for $100 per seat by logging into their account on the WVUGame website.
Season ticket holders looking to buy their regular light blue seats must do so by June 19th, while season ticket holders wanting to purchase their dark blue padded seats in the lower level must order by June 5th. Fans with season tickets in both locations would need to order their seats by each applicable deadline. These orders must be placed through the online application located in their WVU account.
If any conflicts exist between men’s and women’s basketball season ticket holders for the same seats, the seat will be ultimately be assigned based upon MAC donation levels and accumulated priority points.
The general public will also have the opportunity to purchase the regular light blue seats for $150 per seat until June 19th. Specific seat locations will not be granted for general public purchases.
Seat purchases will ONLY be available online through the official WVU website and all sales are final. Refunds and exchanges will not be considered. After purchasing and paying for the seat(s), they then must be picked up in-person during select dates and times this summer. Seats cannot be shipped and additional information on pickup dates will be released in the near future.
