Nellie Pauline (Taylor) Stevens, age 80, of Valley Falls Road, Grafton, WV passed away Tuesday,
March 10, 2020, at her residence.
She was born June 14, 1939 in Mona, WV, a daughter of the late James William and Nellie Lillian (Taylor) Taylor.
She is survived by her husband, Alva T. “Buckie” Stevens; one daughter, Lisa A. Blanton and husband Mitch of Council, Idaho; two grandchildren, John David Yacenech and wife Erica of Shinnston and Milise Blanton of Council, Idaho; two step- grandchildren, Rorrie Blanton of Mexico, Maine and Mitchell Blanton of Boise, ID; one great-granddaughter, Chloe Yacenech; one step-great-granddaughter, Serinity Blanton; and three step-great-grandchildren, Alyvia Blodgett, , Blake and Cadence Blodgett; one brother, James Taylor, IN and one sister, Leona Dawson, of Fairmont; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, David L. Stevens; one sister, Mildred Spangler; three brothers, John Taylor, Donnie Taylor, and Rick Taylor.
Nellie graduated from Grafton High School with the Class of 1957. She worked at Grafton Apparel for 30 years then as a cashier at the Save-A-Lot grocery store in Grafton.
She was a member of the Woodman of the World and a member of the Beulah Baptist Church.
She enjoyed shopping, her friends and family, helping others in need, going to the Senior Center, and especially her long-time pet steer, “Gordy”.
The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Friday, March 13, from 2:00-8:00 p.m., and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor David Bess officiating.
Interment will follow at the Woodsdale Memorial Park Cemetery in Grafton.
