Nancy Gail Parkhill Mason passed away on January 17, 2021 with her family by her side.
A native of Grafton, West Virginia, Nancy was born on March 20, 1935, the younger daughter of Elsie and Ray Parkhill.
She grew up surrounded by her cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents who were all neighbors on Gay Street. Nancy graduated from Grafton High School in 1953 and attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Clarksburg. She became a Registered Nurse in 1955 and married Lowell Mason at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in 1956. She took great pride in her career and excelled, retiring from Grafton City Hospital as the Operating Room Supervisor.
She is survived by her two daughters, Melissa Mason Gordon (Bruce), Patricia Mason Drake (Brad); son Charles Adam Mason (Trudi); and grandsons Nicholas Drake, Eli Mason and Isaiah Mason.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Norma Parkhill Waller.
Her children were all members of the Grafton High School Band. Nancy enjoyed the many years she spent as a “band parent” and was a hard-working member of the Band Boosters. She especially enjoyed attending band camp in the summer as the camp nurse. Nancy relished time with family and friends every year on Memorial Day, GHS class reunions and “Cousins’ Weekend” at Tygart Lake.
The family would like to thank Brandi Kesner, Visiting Angels, the staff of Golden Harvest, Amber Wright, West Virginia Caring Hospice, and WVU Medicine Hospice.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, a memorial service will be scheduled at a future date.
