Multiple fire crews respond to motor home fire

TAYLOR COUNTY—The Grafton Fire Department responded to a structure fire with possible entrapment Tuesday morning.

Crews were toned out at approximately 5:41 a.m., to the Pleasant Creek Campground at Tygart Lake with reports of a motor home in flames. The Harrison-Taylor 911 dispatcher revealed that it was unknown if anyone was still inside when the fire broke out.

Crews from Grafton, Flemington and Philippi Fire Departments responded to the scene and reported a working structure fire.

Grafton Fire Chief Wayne Beall reported that no one was occupying the motor home when the fire broke out, and the cause of the fire is still undetermined.

“Everyone was safe and sound, and that’s what is important,” Beall said. “The motor home was a total loss, though.”

He noted that the fire departments were on the scene for approximately an hour. The Taylor County Emergency Medical Squad was also on scene to assist in the event that medical attention was needed.

“I would just like to say thank you to Flemington and Philippi for responding and providing mutual aid,” Beall expressed. “It is always a welcome sight to see our brothers and sisters from other agencies coming to help us battle the flames.”
