Our staff has been working diligently for weeks prior to the launch to perfect a newer, more modern version of our website.

The site is still accessible by visiting, However, upon loading the page users will notice an entirely new look.

As always, the Mountain Statesman print subscribers will have full free access to our entire website and E- editions. However, after logging in to the new website for the first time, subscribers will be prompted to change their login information. An E-mail has been sent to all current subscribers explaining the necessary steps to take to obtain full access to the site.

Our staff now has the ability to bring breaking news and informational alerts. These include severe weather alerts and early releases for local schools. The staff is also able to feed live video to the community. Subscribers will receive an E-mail notifying them of newly posted breaking news alerts.

In addition, the site also features high definition pictures and, ads, your local weather, and trending articles.

An easy to use drop down menu will allow you to navigate to the different sections of site, which include sports, obituaries and classifieds. Classified can now be accessed on the web by anyone regardless subscription status. The menu also offers a keyword search option, account information and a link to contact us.

“This is a major upgrade for us. Since we are a tri-weekly paper, this site gives us the ability to deliver the latest news to our readers in a more timely fashion,” said Editor Nicki Skinner.

Another new aspect of the site is the ability to sign-up or renew a subscription online by following a few quick and easy steps.

According to Advertising Manager Bryson Taylor, as an introduction to our new web page, all posted content will be viewable to anyone.

“We want to give everyone on the community an opportunity to explore what our new site has to offer, for a least the next two weeks,” shared Taylor. “There are still some tweaks being made to the page. We are working with the designers daily, to make necessary changes until it has been perfected.”
