Mary Louise Bowmar Knotts

Mrs. Mary Louise Bowmar Knotts, age 95, a resident of Belington, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday April 3, 2019, from the St. Joseph’s Hospital at Buckhannon, following a period declining of declining health.

 Mary was born May 21, 1923, in Austin, Preston County, WV, the daughter of the late Christopher Marshall and Ruth Olive Fisher Bowmar. On September 8, 1942 at Baltimore, Maryland, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Paul Knotts, who preceded her in death on April 21, 1991.

She is survived by one son, David Knotts and wife Debra of Gilbert, Arizona; two daughters, Margorie Scott and husband Michael of Port St. Joe Beach Florida and Patricia Proudfoot of Belington; two sisters, Betty Poe of Philippi and Lydia McDaniel of Ohio; two grandchildren, Richard Scott and wife Dana and Craig Proudfoot and wife Melinda; six great grandchildren, Jeremy Kisner and wife Courtney, Ashley Cutright and husband Eric, Moriah Conley and husband Jared, Sarah Vanscoyoc and husband Sam, Samantha Proudfoot and fiancé  Adam, Sarah Ann Scott; and a grandson-in-law, Ray Baker. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter; Belinda Baker, one great granddaughter; Mercy Proudfoot, one sister; Lois Badison, one brother; Charles M. Bowmar, and one son-in-law; Junior Proudfoot.

 Mary was a graduate of Philippi High School with the class of 1942 and lastly attended the Living Waters Church in Philippi. Mary Lou was a homemaker and a devoted farmer’s wife; she worked many long hours taking care of the farm and her family. She loved her family very much and it showed, in her kindness, her willingness to make others happy and the beautiful way she lived her life. She was one of a kind, an inspiration in many ways and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N Brandenburg Street in Belington, on Saturday April 6, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel, with the Pastor Jo McCartney officiating.

Interment will follow in the Woodsdale Memorial Park Cemetery near Grafton.
