Maier and Kelley pace Knights at Doddridge Invitational


DODDRIDGE COUNTY— The Taylor County Middle School Knights made the long journey down Route 50 on Wednesday night to compete in the Doddridge County Invitational. The Knights ran against team from Doddridge, Pleasants, Tyler Consolidated, Ravenswood, Ritchie, Bridgeport, Mountaineer Middle, Moundsville, WI, Notre Dame and Wirt County.

The boys ran to a third place finish while the girls finished in seventh place.

The top runner for the girls team was Avrie Kelley who finished in 8th place followed by Kendra Rogucki in 19th place. The remaining Lady Knight runners were Sierra Walls (50th), Chloe Saltis (57th), River Sipes (65th), Emma Fridley (72nd), Maddie Moats (75th), Kelsey Massie (77th), Alyssa Rogucki (88th), Jada Johnson (90th), Caitlyn Boylen (106th), Carrie Ellen Richards (107th), Kaitlyn Saltis (129th), Miranda Sharps (135th), Ellie Royce (139th) and Launa Walls (144th).

Ryan Maier was the fastest Knight in the boys division as he finished in 10th place while Matthew Hellmondollar finished 22nd. The remaining Knight runners were Cayden Boylen (23rd), James Hellmondollar (26th), JT Veltri (30th), Blake Copeland (58th), Gabriel Spino (64th), Dustin Keener (71st), Harrison Maier (73rd), Jacob Maier (95th), Elias Rubenstein (99th) and Landon Brown (113th).

The Knights next meet will be in Fairmont this coming Tuesday. The race is set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
