Local softball league looking to fill teams

GRAFTON—  The Base Invaders are looking to add some talent to their rosters, as they prepared to host spring sign-ups, with hopes of drawing enough interest to create multiple teams.

According to Base Invader organizers, the league is looking to fill at 16u team, and is also exploring the possibility of having a 12u team, as well.

“If other counties can field 18u teams, we may as well give that a try too,” commented Joe Mauller.

Sign-ups will be held at the Grafton High School softball field concession stand.

Those interesting in playing, whether they’re a seasoned player or just starting out, will have the opportunity to register on Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. or on Sunday, April 26, from 2:00-4:00 p.m.

Mauller shared that those wishing to play 12u, could be as young as ten-years-old, but must be 12 or under as of January 1, while the 16u teams will be for those 16 and under as of January 1, and as young as 13.

The 18u team will be open to anyone 18 and under as of January 1.

The cost of registration is $75, and a copy of the player’s birth certificate is needed to keep on file.

League organizers are also looking for those willing individuals to assist with sign-ups, and are also on the hunt for a 12u coach.

Any parent or individual that would like to lend a hand and be a part of the Base Invaders can send a message to the league’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/base.invaders.1.

Mauller noted that the season will begin after  the conclusion of school and recreational seasons, with the start near the end of May and the season wrapping up in August.
