Lillie Crimm and Hunter McQuain named Taylor County Student Athletes of the Week

This week’s Taylor County Athletes of the Week are showing how it’s done on the diamond!

Taylor County Middle School’s (TCMS) Lillie Crimm and Taylor County Little Leaguer Hunter McQuain have been selected for the recognition this week.

Crimm is described by her coach of four years as a competitive athlete, with a huge heart and a true team player.

She possesses a passion for the game that makes her a fierce and formidable opponent, and has the determination to win.

Throughout her season this year as a TCMS Lady Knight softball player, Crimm has excelled recording a batting average of .370 over the course of eight games, been walked seven times and has earned numerous RBIs and extra base hits.

Crimm also takes to the rubber for the Lady Knights and has been putting on a grand pitching performance, recording 70 strikeouts in eight games, an average of 8.75 strikeouts per game.

And not only does she take pride on the field, but off the field, Crimm also shines, as she was recently awarded the Golden Horseshoe.

McQuain has been a part of TCLL since he was around four-years-old, starting out playing tee ball, and this week he led his team to victory with a show stopping hit.

The 11-year-old has a deep passion for the sport of baseball, and has worked his way through the ranks of TCLL, having just one more season left before moving on to the next level.

This year, McQuian is a member of the Gavin Strong Orioles, playing as the team’s short stop.

The team recently faced off against the undefeated Clarksburg Aces, and when McQuain went up to bat during the second inning, he connected with a grand slam, sending the fall over the 225’ fence at the Clarksburg Park.

Filled with energy and excitement, his homer paved the way for his team to hand the Aces their first loss of the season.

McQuain went on to record three RBI’s during the contest, as well in the team’s 9-2 victory.

At the conclusion of the game, McQuain was given the grand slam ball, and had all of his teammates sign it as a memento from one of his greatest baseball accomplishments thus far.

Congratulations to Lillie and Hunter for being named Taylor County Athletes of the Week, and showing that a little pride and determination can go along way!
