Leona Tencie Murray, 94, of Grafton, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at United Hospital Center with family by her side.
She was born March 25, 1926, in Kasson, WV, daughter of the late Dayton and Freda Fike Bolyard.
She enjoyed being with her family and friends, puzzles, books, and loved watching the preachers on TV. She took great pride in her work when she cleaned for many businesses within her hometown.
Leona is survived by one daughter, Carol Slaton and husband Alan, Grafton; one daughter-in-law, Judy Murray, Grafton; six grandchildren: Chris, Angel, Justin, Catlin, Jason, and Stephanie; eleven great-grandchildren: Brian, Nevaeh, Gavin, Clarissa, Shawna, Colby, Zoey, Gabriella, Joel, Sam and Maddie; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons: Jimmy Murray and David Murray; two grandchildren: Patricia Slaton, and Tim Slaton; six sisters: Irene Miller, Madeline Shahan, Faye Sigley, Janet Sigley, Joyce Bolner, and Lucille Travis; seven brothers: Hayward Bolyard, Ronald Bolyard, Burdine Bolyard, Roy Bolyard, Denzil Bolyard, Vance Bolyard, and Melvin Bolyard.
Family and friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., on Friday July 10, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with proper distancing and face mask. A funeral will be held Friday July 10, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Jimmy Johnson officiating.
