Lady Knights volleyball takes care of business against Polar Bears

PRUNTYTOWN—The Taylor County Middle School (TCMS) Lady Knights hosted the West Fairmont Polar Bears in regular season play at TCMS on Wednesday, September 16.

Upon entering the contest, the Lady Knights found themselves defending their undefeated season against the always formidable Lady Polar Bears.

The Lady Knights, guided by seniors Karigan Wildroudt and Anna Harbison, made a spirited run in the first set, only to drop that round 25-17.

Starting the second set with a never-give up attitude, and the strong power serve of starting setter Andi Toothman, the Lady Knights powered back to handily take the second set 25-13.

The third and final set would pit the all-star West Fairmont Senior Achonce Haywood against the Lady Knights starting Libero Jeri Wolford.

West Fairmont would jump out to early commanding lead of 17-0, forcing the Lady Knights to battle back and regain the momentum late in the third set to take the victory 25-20.

“We had to come back from the brink in that final” said coach Kelley Larew. “We were down 17-0 in the last set. It was ugly for us. But the girls brought it back and took care of business in that third set.”
