BUCKHANNON —The TCMS Lady Knights would travel to Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School to challenge the Lady Pirates this past week.
The JV would start the night as they took the court first in a exciting as the Lady Knights jumped out to a early lead 9-7 early in the first set. The Lady Pirates would soon find their footing and begin a mid-set rally would see the Lady Knights dropping the first set 25-18.
The second set for the JV Lady Knights would have the Lady Knights mount a magnificent comeback to win the second set 25-22 forcing a third set.
The third set would see a nail biter back and forth come to a close with the Lady Pirates squeaking out a victory over the JV Lady Knights 25-21 to take the match. The JV Lady Knights were led by a pair of seventh graders Payton Freeman with 14 points and Alyssa Larry adding another 12 points.
The Varsity Lady Knights would enter play energized by the enthusiasm left over from the JV game. The energy left over would soon dissipate as they Lady Knights found themselves down early in the first set and would go on to drop the first set to the Lady Pirates 25-14.
The second set would be more of the same despite a strong defensive effort by the Lady Knights they would ultimately fall behind and be unable to catch up dropping the second set and the match with a final score of 14-25. Lady Knight scoring would be led by eighth graders Jeri Wolford with 7 points and Kasey Alexander adding another 6.
The Lady Knights will be back in action this week at home as they will face W.I. in Grafton.
