PRUNTYTOWN—While the TCMS boys’ basketball team was busy playing East Fairmont at home and Bridgeport and West Preston on the road this week, the girls’ basketball team was also playing the same opponents, although the first two of those games were at the opposite sites from the boys’ games.
The Lady Knights kicked off their busy week traveling to East Fairmont on Tuesday, with the JV’s dropping their contest by the score of 33-8, and the varsity also coming up short, dropping a 41-33 matchup to the Hornets.
In the JV game, Sophia Austin, Anna Harbison, Emma Johnson, and Ashlynn Bolyard would each score two points for the Knights, while in the varsity contest, Kambree Delaney would lead the way on offense with 14 points while Jodi Keene added five points while pulling down six rebounds on defense.
Ally Mayle also accounted for five steals and three rebounds to go along with her four points.
On Wednesday, the Lady Knights would host Bridgeport Middle School at TCMS.
The Lady Knights’ JV squad would more than triple their offensive output from the previous evening, beating the Braves by the score of 26-17. TCMS was led on offense by Natalie Kelley (9), Sophia Austin (5), Lillie Crimm (5), Kenna Keener (4), Kelsey Massie (2), and Ashlynne Bolyard (1).
In the varsity contest, the Lady Knights would drop a close 41-31 matchup to the Braves.
Kambree Delaney scored 10 points, followed by Robbi Jacobs (7), Ally Mayle (7), Jodi Keene (5), Tayler Rudy (1), and Natalie Kelley (1). Keene and Delaney also led the team with five rebounds, followed by Jacobs and Mayle with four each.
In their third game in three days, the Lady Knights would travel to West Preston to take on the Lady Panthers in varsity action just before the boys’ team would play their varsity game.
The Lady Knights would take a 20-11 lead into the locker room at halftime and finish off West Preston by the score of 39-26.
Jodi Keene had an outstanding game for TCMS, scoring 12 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and accounting for two steals. Kambree Delaney would add 11 points two assists, a rebound, and a steal, while Robbi Jacobs had an impressive all-around game as well, dishing out nine assists and pulling down six rebounds go along with her three steals.
The Lady Knights return to action this Wednesday as they travel to West Fairmont Middle School for a 6:00pm tipoff.
