PRUNTYTOWN—The Lady Knights Soccer team had a busy week last week, taking on multiple teams from the surrounding area.
The ladies started off their week on Tuesday, September 14, at home, against a strong Phillip Barbour team. Unfortunately, they were unable to find the back of the goal ending in a 6-0 loss.
Wednesday, the Lady Knights made their way to Elkins. This time, they were able to get a point on the board, keeping the Hornets from claiming a shutout.
Seventh grader Lydia Wildroudt scored off of a corner kick by Madalyn Haddix.
Although they played hard, the Lady Knights fell to Elkins Middle, 5-1.
On Friday, September 17, the Lady Knights were seeking redemption as they were back home on McKinney field against the Washington Irving (WI) Hilltoppers.
And while they had plenty of chances, with multiple shots being taken, the Hilltopper keeper wasn’t having it.
The score going into half time was 0-0.
“The girls were tired, playing three games this week. They needed to focus, and play their positions if they wanted to win the match,” said Lady Knights Soccer Head Coach Joey Haddix.
For the second half of the game, the Knights kept the ball on their end of the field, and with just six minutes left in the game, Anna Poling sent a cross to Haddix, and she found the back of the goal, making the final score 1-0 for the Lady Knights.
