ELKINS—The Taylor County Middle School girls basketball team headed to Elkins on Monday night, to take on the Lady Hornets. The girls would battle all night long, but in the end, they lost to Elkins 32—19.
The Lady Knights would start slow, finding themselves down 15—7 after two quarters of play.
The second half would be more of the same, as the Knights were outscored 17—12.
Kambree Delaney led the Knights with six points, followed by Leah Jackson with four.
The rest of the Knights in the scorebook were Robbi Jacobs (3), Jerra Halbritter (3), Taylor Minard (2) and Neveah Swisher (1).
The JV Knights were also in action as they fell to Elkins 26—10.
The TCMS points were scored by Halbritter (3), Swisher (2), Minard (2), Kylie Newlon (2) and Lilly Crimm (1).
On Tuesday night, the Lady Knights hosted Lincoln on Eighth Grade Night. The Knights would play the Wildcats closer than they had in their first meeting of the season, but the improved play would not matter, as the Knights fell 37—20.
Jackson led the Knights in the scoring column with seven points on her Eighth Grade Night.
The remaining scorer’s for coach Robbie Jacobs were Elizabeth Uhl (4), Ally Mayle (4), Delaney (2), Minard (2) and Halbritter (1).
