Lady Knights face top-seeded Lady Hawks

GRAFTON —The Taylor County Middle School (TCMS) Lady Knights would host the number one Belington Hawks this week and travel to Bridgeport to take on the Heritage Christian Patriots.

This week’s game would pit the Lady Knights against the formidable Belington Lady Hawks as the Lady Knights would try to unseed the Lady Hawks from their perch upon the unbeaten pedestal.

The first set would see a dominant Lady Hawks team showing the Lady Knights why they are at the top of the heap.

The Lady Hawks pulled out to an early 11-0 lead and kept up the pace to win easily 25-13.

The second set would show the Knights fortitude as they battled in the set to keep the game close on the backs of Jeri Wolford and Keena Keener as they have several blocks and kills during this set but it ultimately wouldn’t be enough as they Lady Hawks would turn it up a notch and go on to devastate the Lady Knights 25-17, for the set and the game.

The second game would have the Lady Knights defending their previous wins over the Lady Patriots in regular season play.

The Knights would pull out to an early lead in the first set as the Lady Patriots were still finding their footing.

The Lady Patriots would start to sure up their game as they tied the match in the middle of the second set 11-11.

Through a series of mishaps and just bad luck the Lady Knights soon found themselves down late in the first set and would go on to drop the first set 25-20.

The second set would see the energy created by the Lady Patriots continue as they quickly jumped into the lead and would keep that energy all through the set as the Lady Patriots would win the second set 25-21.

They Lady Patriots have now split the difference with the Lady Knights this season as they are now 1-1 in season play.

The Lady Knights will travel to Belington next week to play the Lady Hawks in a rematch.
