Lady Cats dominate Liberty Mountaineers


GRAFTON—The Grafton High School girls basketball team finally received some fresh air on Monday, as they dominated the Liberty Mountaineers 54—21.

The Cats, who are coming off of two smothering losses to Fairmont Senior and North Marion, gave the Mountaineers all they could handle, as they shutout Liberty in the first quarter 16—0.

The Cats would go on to win the remaining three quarters to get another win on the season.

Meredith Maier led the Bearcats with 16 points, followed by Bailey Toothman with eight.

The remaining points were scored by Jocelyn Countryman (8), Brooklyn Teeple (5), Bria Jacobs (4), Frederique Maloley (4), Hailey Skiles (4), Megan Kisner (2) and Tori Jackson (1).

The JV Cats were also victorious, taking down the Mountaineers in a close match, ending with a score of 45—44.

The GHS points were scored by Isabella Swiger (10), Amber Smith (8), Skiles (8), Tehya Hern 96), Mia Chambers (6), Kenna Delaney (4), McKenzie Mayle (2) and Sydney Friend (1).

The Lady Cats are back in action tonight, as they travel to Shinnston to take on state ranked Lincoln.

The JV contest will start at 5:45 p.m., with the varsity to follow at 7:30 p.m.
