BRIDGEPORT – The Taylor County Middle School girls basketball team battled the Bridgeport Braves on Tuesday night in Bridgeport. The Lady Knights made a late run at the Braves but it was not enough as the Braves won the contest 42 to 29.
The Lady Knights came out an inspired team as they would only find themselves down 12 to 9 at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Knights would sputter in the second quarter as they found themselves down 22 to 13 going into the locker room at the half.
The third quarter was not kind to the Knights as Elizabeth Uhl was the only TCMS player to score in the quarter.
The Knights were able to make a run at the Braves in the fourth as TCMS won the final quarter 14 to 7.
The Knights offense was led by Jerra Halbritter with eight points all coming in the fourth quarter. TCMS spread the remaining points around the entire team as nine players had points recorded in the score book.
The TCMS points were scored by Leah Jackson (5), Eva Jones (4), Robbi Jacobs (2), Kambree Delaney (2), Jordan Niggemyer (2), Ally Mayle (2), Uhl (2), Neveah Swisher (2).
The Lady Knight JV team was also in action on Tuesday night as they also lost to Bridgeport 23 to 3. Jodi Keene scored all three TCMS points in the final quarter of play.
The Lady Knights were back in action last night against Barrackville Middle School.
