CLARKSBURG—The Grafton High School girls basketball team headed to Clarksburg last Thursday night to battle the Lady Eagles of RCB. Neither team could find their offense early in the game, but the Eagles found it late to come away with a 43—27 win.
The two teams could only manage a combined six points in the first quarter, as the Eagles took the lead 4—2. The score improved slightly in the second quarter, as the Cats scored eight and the Eagles scored 12. At the half the score was RCB 16 and GHS 10.
The Eagles then turned up the heat in the second half outscoring GHS 27—17 to earn the victory.
Ally Peters led the Lady Cats with 11 points in the contest.
The remaining points were scored by Jocelyn Countryman (4), Bailey Toothman (3), Chaylee Trimble (3), Hailey Skiles (4) and McKenzie Mayle (2).
The girls were back in action on Monday night, as they traveled to Weston to face Lewis County High School. The results will be in a future edition of the Mountain Statesman.
