MINERAL WELLS – The Taylor County Middle School cross country teams ran in the Chick-fil-a Invitational in Mineral Wells over the weekend. The race included 31 schools from all over West Virginia and into Ohio.
The Knights ran against teams from Doddridge, Williamstown, Ripley, Winfield, Milton, East Fairmont, Hamilton, Ravenswood, Pleasant, John Adams, Tyler Consolidated, Edison, Caldwell, Cameron, Ritchie, Bruceton, Andrew Jackson, Vandevender, Elkview, Trinity, Jackson, South Charleston, Horace Mann, Poca, Wirt, Marietta, Notre Dame, Shadyside, Blennerhassett and Sherman.
The Lady Knights had an outstanding meet as they finished in seventh place while the boys finished in 20th place.
Kendra Rogucki paced the Lady Knights with a time of 11:43 which was good enough for a 24th place finish. The remaining running Knights were Avrie Kelley (32nd), River Sipes (55th), Emily Viani (59th), Maddie Moats (67th), Kevie Sipes (96th) and Kayla Greathouse (102nd).
For the boy’s team JT Veltri finished in 19th place and the next closest finisher was Aiden Sheme in 73rd place. The rest of the Knights racing on the day were Jacob Maier (135th), Harrison Maier (150th), Dustin Keener (158th), Corbin Knotts (165th) and Gavin Royce (179th).
On Tuesday the Knights ran in the Doddridge County Invitational. The lady Knights were impressive again as they ran to a third place finish while the boys came home with a sixth place finish.
The TCMS girls crossing the finish line were Kelley (14th), Viani (15th), Rogucki (17th), R. Sipes (35th), Moats (36th), Greathouse (44th), K. Sipes (48th), Kelsey Massie (57th), Caitlyn Boylen (69th), Carrie Ellen Richards (76th), Chloe Saltis (82nd), Jada Johnson (113th), Yvonna Knotts (128th), Ellie Royce (131st) and Launa Walls (133rd).
The boys crossing the line were Veltri (3rd), Knotts (55th), Keener (58th), H. Maier (61st), J. Maier (62nd), Austin Mayle (68th), Gabriel Young (76th), Gavin Royce (95th), Landon Brown (102nd) and Mason Dunham (103rd).
The Knights will be in Bridgeport on Saturday to run in the Charles Point Invitational. The race is set to begin at 9:00 a.m.
