Knights fall to Hornets

GRAFTON—The Taylor County Knights played their first home game of the 2017-2018 season on Monday Night as they played host to the East Fairmont Hornets.

The Knights had a solid first half but could not hold on in the end as they fall to East 43—35.

The Knights dominated the first quarter, as they out hustled the Hornets to all of the loose balls, but East found their shooting touch in the second quarter out-scoring the Knights 15—12.

At the half, the Knights still held a 23—20 lead.

The wheels fell off the cart for the Knights in the third quarter, as they could only manage to score two points. This proved to be the difference in the game, as the Knights go down by eight at games end.

Ryan Maier led the Knights offense with 14 points, followed by Tanner Moats and James Hoskins with four apiece.

The remaining Knights in the scorebook were Cayden Boylen (3), Andrew Irvine (3), Kameron Scheuvront (3), James Helmondollar (2) and Matthew Helmondollar (2).

In the early game on Monday, the Knights JV team lost to the JV Hornets 56—16.

The varsity Knights will be back in action on Thursday night as they travel to Shinnston to face Lincoln Middle School at 7:15 p.m.
