GRAFTON—The Taylor County Middle School boys basketball team returned home on Tuesday night, to host the Hornets of East Fairmont Middle School.
The Knights jumped out to an early first quarter lead, but quickly fell apart in the second quarter, as they went on to lose to East Fairmont 40—31.
JT Veltri was the leading scorer for TCMS with 15 of the Knights 31 points.
The remaining points were scored by Mason Dunham (5), Cole Mooney (4), Jacob Maier (3), Harrison Maier (2) and Alex Hess (2).
The JV Knights also lost to the JV Hornets 40—16.
The TCMS points were scored by Kenny Hunphries (6), Isaac Lough (4), Layne England (3), Adrian Joyce (2) and Ben Louzy (1).
On Monday night, Coach Jonathan Curren’s Knights traveled to Elkins to battle Elkins Middle School. The Knights fell behind early and could not mount any kind of comeback. The final score was Elkins 66, TCMS 40.
Veltri led the Knights with 17 points, followed by Mason Dunham with eight. This was Dunham’s first start on the Knight varsity team.
The remaining TCMS points were scored by J. Maier (6), H. Maier (4), Bryson Bish (3) and Lough (2).
The JV Knights fell to Elkins 33—28 in the first game of the night.
The Knight points were scored by Humphries (9), Lough (8), Louzy (5), H. Maier (5) and Garrett Hudson (2).
The Knights will be in action on Tuesday, hoping to end their six game losing streak when they host Lincoln at 7:15 p.m. This will be a varsity only contest.
