Knights dominate Patriots


WESTON – The Taylor County Middle School Knights dominated the RL Bland Patriots, last Thursday night in Weston.

The Knights came out on fire, winning the first quarter 15 to 4 and never looked back as the Knights go on to a 46 to 18 victory.

Ryan Maier continued the lead his team in the scoring column as he recorded 17 points on the night. The remaining scoring for the Knights came from Justin Spiker (11), Tanner Moats (11), Kameron Schevront (6) and James Hoskins (2).

The JV Knights also won on the evening by a score of 44 to 24. JT Veltri led the Knights with 10 points followed by Isaac Lough, Ben Louzy and Garrett Hutson with six points apiece. The remaining points came from Dustin Keener (5), Isaiah Vanscoy (4), Kenny Humphries (4), Charles Hoskins (3), Jacob Maier (2) and Cole Mooney (2).

In an earlier contest this season, the Knights hosted the Bulldogs from Philippi Middle School.

In varsity action the Knights defeated the Bulldogs 47 to 41. Ryan Maier led the Knights as he poured in 20 followed by Spiker and Andrew Irvine with eight apiece. The rest of the Knights in the scoring column were Tanner Moats (7), Matthew Helmondollar (2) and James Hoskins (2).

The JV Knights were also victorious with a 46 to 19 victory. Mooney led the Knights with 15 points followed by C. Hoskins with eight.

The remaining points came from Kenny Humphries (8), JT Veltri (7), J. Maier (2), Harrison Maier (2) and Lough (2).

The next game for the nights was on the road at Elkins on Monday night.

Behind the shooting of Ryan Maier, the Knights came away with a 41 to 33 victory to record their third victory in a row.

Maier led all scorers with 25 points followed by Irvine with seven.

The remaining points came from Spiker (4), Matthew Helmondollar (2), Schevront (2) and Hoskins (1).

Then JV Knights were not as fortunate as they fall to Elkins 48 to 19.

Ben Louzy led the Knights with eight points in the contest.

The remaining points were scored by Harrison Maier (2), Isaiah Vanscoy (1), Charles Hoskins (4) and JT Veltri (4).

The Knights will be back in action at East Fairmont next Tuesday night. The JV game will begin at 6:00 p.m., with the varsity game to tip immediately after the conclusion of the JV game.
