GRAFTON— The Taylor County Middle School (TCMS) track team continues to outshine the competition, as they delivered another electrifying performance at East West Stadium in Fairmont last week.
For the Lady Knights, the team entered 24 participants, who went on to rack up 122 points during the meet, enough to secure a first-place overall finish. On the boys side, TCMS had 13 athlete competing, earning the Knights 90 points on the day, landing them a third-place finish overall.
“This team continues to impress,” expressed assistant coach Jamen Summers. “The results of this meet really shows the quality of these athletes. The kids come to practice, work hard on improving their individual skills and strive for excellence.”
Of the Lady Knights’ four first-place finishes, standout Hadley Horne once again led the way with earning two of those top spots.

And while both the girls and boys excelled on the track, the team as a whole has been improving at the field events, adding valuable points to their team’s total.
“The throwers performed well, many of them set personal records in both of their throwing events,” shared assistant coach Junior Lambert.
Eighth grader Andrew Collins placed third in boys discus throw and numerous of the team’s younger girls placed also placed in the event, with sixth grader Reese Lambert and seventh grader Maggie Brake claiming third and fifth-place respectively in the discus throw.
