FAIRMONT— Following their match at Buckhannon Upshur (BU), the wrestling Knights were back on the mats at East Fairmont, on Tuesday, battling it out against opponents from East Fairmont Middle School and BU.
Having taken on both of these teams earlier in the season, the Taylor County Middle School (TCMS) wrestlers knew that they were going to be facing some fierce competitors, and prepared for the challenges ahead during the week’s practices.
And the preparations proved to pay off for nearly all five of the team members, as they were able to hold steady with their winnings and make improvements.
Knight Noah Nestor (116) held on to his streak, once again battling his way to a 2-0 finish.
During the team’s last match Knight Jarrett Blackhurst (123) went 1-1, but made great strides Tuesday night, joining N. Nestor in his 2-0 finish.
Progress was also made by Cash Nestor (145), who improved from 0-2 at BU to 1-1 at East Fairmont.
Javon Vanscoy (128) and Dylan Gutshall (135) also fought their way to 1-1 finishes for the evening.
“We’re seeing a lot of good effort on the mats from our boys,” commented head coach Kevin Efaw. “This season has been challenging, but they give it their all and that is all I can really ask for. We will continue working hard in practice and making improvements, assisting these boys to be the best athletes they possibly can be.”
The Knights will be on deck again on Tuesday, March 23 at Central Preston.
