JV Lady Knights close season with match win

GRAFTON —The Taylor County Middle School (TCMS) Lady Knights would finish up their season on the road this week as they traveled to Fairmont to face the East Fairmont Lady Bees.

The JV would hit the court first and put on a show, dominating the JV Lady Bees.

The Lady Knights played off the backs of Peyton Freeman and Carly Vandergrift, and went on to easily beat the Lady Bee’s in two sets.

TCMS’s JV squad boasted a score of 25-17 in the first and would top the Bees by five in the second set, with a final  25-20, claiming the match for the Lady Knights.

The Lady Knight Varsity would not see similar results as the struggling varsity team would have a hard time defending against a rowdy East Fairmont crowd and team.

Ultimatley, the Lady Knights would drop both sets and the match to the formidable East Fairmont team.

Head coach Kelley Larew stated after the game, “These girls have played their hearts out all year and I couldn’t be prouder of them. Most of the eighth graders here I have had since they were in the sixth grade, and I will miss them.”

The TCMS Lady Knights have completed their season and look forward to next year, as the great JV team from this year moves up and most of the varsity will move onto the high school, to hopefully wear the GHS Lady Bearcat uniform.
