John Travis “JT” McDaniel

John Travis McDaniel (JT) 37, of Grafton, went to be with his Lord and Savior, February 18, 2017.

JT was born in Fairmont, WV, on August 19, 1979, to John F. and Bonnie McDaniel, of Grafton, who survive him.

He leaves behind and will sadly be missed by his parents, two sisters, Karey Maier, and husband, Eric, of Grafton, Heather Cleary and husband, Sean, of Morgantown. He was “Uncle T” to Ryan, Jacob, Chase, and Jenna Maier, and Patrick Cleary; his girlfriend, Nicole Heflin, and their son, the pride and joy of his heart, Carter Michael McDaniel, and her son, Jonathan Matheny, that he thought of as his own; also survived by grandfather, Charles L. and Carm Wolfe, of Elyria, OH, and step-grandfather, Shirley P. Hite, of Grafton; numerous very close aunts, uncles and cousins.

JT was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elena McDaniel, Carl and Sarah McDaniel Sr., and Phyllis Hite.

JT was a graduate of Grafton H.S. in 1997, where he was a varsity athlete in both Track and Cross Country. The Blue and Gold of WV was very dear to him, but it was Michael Jordon and the Chicago Bulls that truly captured his passion for sports. JT had a passion for cooking. He was the owner of Uncle T’s Kitchen, in Grafton.  He spent many years at Monroe’s Deli, in Kingwood, as a tremendous cook. JT loved bringing his family together for any event, as he prepared his favorite dishes. He had a tender heart and inspired and encouraged those he came in contact with. JT loved spending time with his family and especially his son Carter.

In lieu of flowers, an account has been set up, to start a trust, for his son at First Community Bank of Grafton.
