GRAFTON— The Taylor County Base Invaders 10U Girls Softball team played a hard-fought game against Sherwood that ended in a tie over the weekend.
The first inning would be uneventful as both teams failed to achieve any offense.
The second inning began another shutout of the Sherwood team and in the bottom of the second the Base Invaders were able to finally add two runs making the score 2-0.
The third and fourth innings would see the Base Invaders add plenty of insurance runs as the score creped up to settle at 6-1 at the bottom of the third.
The top of the fourth inning would bring a resurgence for the Sherwood team, as they were able to tack on three runs entering the bottom of the fourth with the score now 3-7.
The fifth inning would belong entirely to the rejuvenated Sherwood team as they were able to add four more runs in the top of the fifth inning brining the score to 7-7.
The Base Invaders would have one last chance to break the tie at the end of the game but failed and the game ended with the score seven all. “
I really wanted this game tonight. It shows how that one inning can change an entire game and momentum. These girls played great under pressure and I couldn’t ask for more,” Head Coach Julie Dowdy expressed.
The 10U Base Invaders will be playing a makeup Mother’s Day game this weekend and everyone is encouraged to attend.
