Like father, like son: Knights welcome newly certified assistant coach Logan Beltner

BUCKHANNON—The Taylor County Middle School (TCMS) Lady Knights Varsity basketball team continued their winning streak against the formidable Buccaneers of Buckhannon-Upshur Middle school this past Thursday.

Led by senior standouts Hadley Horne and Anna Harbison, the Lady Knights sailed to victory with a 41-33 final score over the Bucs.

“I think we are getting better every day. We have a few areas to correct, but I am pleased with the effort of all these girls,” stated headed coach Bobby Beltner.

Thursday’s game brought a special moment as Coach Beltner was joined on the coaching floor by his son Logan Beltner, who had just received his WVSSAC coaching certificate.

L.Beltner was a hoops standout for the Grafton High School Bearcats, and will be an asset to the program.

The Bucs were led in scoring by senior Alyssia Abel who posted an impressive 11 points against a strong Lady Knights defense.

The Lady Knights were bolstered by the 17 points put up by Hadley Horne with Anna Harbison adding an additional 10 points and Lillie Crimm’s tagging up of six points.

The Lady Knights are currently sporting a winning record of 3-0 so far this year.

“To come in and beat a school the size of Buckhannon Middle is encouraging going forward,” Beltner explained.

He is looking forward to traveling to Central Preston today to keep their winning streak alive, as they face off against the Wildcats in division play with the JV starting at 9:00 a.m. and the Varsity taking the floor 10:15 a.m.
