Homemade soup sale to help spread the good news of God to children

TAYLOR COUNTY—Vacation Bible Schools (VBS)have proven to be a beneficial way for youths to learn about God and his teachings, while engaging them in fun activities.

The Taylor County Cooperative Parish will be hosting a way to fund a gathering for youngsters throughout the county, while filling the bellies of participants with delicious, wholesome goodness.

Join the Parish on Saturday, March 26, for their soup sale. During the day, parishioners will be offering up containers of homemade soups in classic flavors.

“We will be serving up vegetable beef and chicken noodle soups,” said a Taylor County Cooperative Parish member. “Come and claim your quart for just $10.”

All proceeds will be used by the Parish to finance “A Community Youth VBS, that will be held this summer, with the fun and learning beginning on Wednesday, July 20 and concluding on Friday, July 22.

Defined by Merriam-Webster as “a weekday program of Christian education for children featuring religious study courses, arts and crafts, and recreation conducted by local Christian churches for one or more weeks during the summer vacation,” VBS offers children a way to learn more about God.

Not only does it introduce religion into the lives of participants, by those who attend are also able to meet new friends, share their beliefs and have a sense of inclusion and belonging, all while learning life lessons that can help them grow into a well-rounded adult.

And while, often times, VBSs are held free of charge to participants, churches and organizations are sometimes left with lofty bills after the purchasing of supplies and snacks, if given out, and to ensure that this outlet is provided for area youths, the Parish decided to host this special fundraiser.

The Taylor County Cooperative Parish is currently accepting preorders for the sale, and all preorders must be paid before the event.

Those wishing to order either variety of soup may contact parish members Donna, by calling 304-669-8553 or Sue at 304-265-0422. Please leave a voicemail containing your name and phone number should your call go unanswered.

To ensure that the organization purchases and makes enough soup to cover their orders, they request that all orders be placed by Sunday, March 20.

Preorders may be picked up the day of the sale, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Bread of Life Mission, located at 120 Latrobe Street, Grafton.

“We hope that you will join us for this special event, as we raise money for the children of the area,” said the Parish member. “And what better way to help us out than by filling your bellies with homemade soups to help warm your soul.”
