FAIRMONT – The Grafton High School wrestling team had a busy week as they had to travel twice to Marion County. The Bearcats competed at Fairmont Senior on Wednesday night.
As a team at Fairmont Senior, the Cats defeated Doddridge County 42 to 38 and they lost to South Harrison 39 to 36 and Fairmont Senior 63 to 18.
On Friday they headed a little deeper into Marion County as they wrestled at North Marion High School. As a team the Cats defeated Morgantown (45 to 30) and Paden City (47-17) but lost to North Marion 60 to 20.
In individual action, Noah Hodges and Dillon Williams both remained undefeated on the season.
“It was a hard fought couple of days,” said veteran head coach Keith Zebley. “It is still early and we have a lot to work on. In head to head competition we are doing great, we just give up too many weight classes,” he added.
The Bearcats were back in action last night as they hosted their first home match of the season. The results will be in a future edition of the Mountain Statesman.
