Head out to WTES for some springtime fun!

FLEMINGTON—Spring is filled with bright colors, warmer weather and fun, and to help residents enjoy a day of amusement, West Taylor Elementary School (WTES) will be hosting a Spring Carnival.

The festival, slated for this Saturday, April 9, from noon until 4:00 p.m., will include games, face painting, sand art and bounce houses for all to enjoy.

“The Grafton Fire Department will also be on hand to teach the students the importance of smoke alarms and having an exit plan with their Fire Safety House,” disclosed West Taylor Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) Secretary Cara Breedlove.

She revealed that the Federal Bureau of Investigation Community Outreach organization would also be present to fingerprint children and provide parents with a card to keep for their records.

During the event, the PTO will be offering up 27 different themed raffle baskets.

“Tickets will be available for purchase at the school before the carnival, but will also be available at the carnival, as well,” Breedlove reported.

Carnival goers can try their luck at claiming a West Virginia University basket that contains four football tickets to see the Mountaineers take the field this season.

In addition, guests can buy chances for a Wheeling getaway, a family trip to Pittsburgh, a 50” television and two children’s Kindles.

“You won’t want to miss out on the chance to vie for our grand prize, which is two adult season passes to WISP Resort,” exclaimed Breedlove.

All of the fun and excitement is sure to bring on a hearty appetite, and guests can visit the concession stand, peruse through the sweets and treats of a bake sale, take part in a cake walk, or visit food vendors including Macy Lou’s Apples, where delicious gourmet candy apples will be offered or Qdoba for some nachos to curb their cravings and fill their bellies.

And to top it all off, individuals can visit Zul’s Lemonade to stake their claim of their favorite frozen lemonade flavor or pick up a bag of kettle corn.

“This will be one of the PTO’s largest fundraising events, and the monies collected will be used for our sponsored events and activities,” voiced Breedlove. “Those include field trips, family nights, fun days, the fourth grade reception and Teacher Appreciation Week activities, as well as purchasing school t-shirts for every WTES child. So, we hope that you will come out and support our school and students.”
