Grafton youth wrestlers compete in Philippi

PHILIPPI – The Grafton wrestling club traveled to Philippi this weekend to wrestler in the Philip Barbour Open.

In individual competition, Christian Cox placed fourth in the 10U 105 class while Javon Vanscoy placed second in the 10U 80 class. 

Garrett Davis wrestled his way to a first place finish in the 8U 75 class and Logan Shaver placed second in the 8U 65 class.

Maverick Bartsch also had a great day as he placed second in the 8U 50 class and JW Nestor placed first in the 6U 60 class.

Luke Knotts placed 4th in the 6U 55 class while Brock Sturms placed second in the 6U 45 class.

Dylan Gutshall and Brayton Davis also wrestled hard during the tournament.

Cash Ware traveled to Philippi on Sunday to wrestle in the Coalfield conference tournament and he finished with a 2 and 2 record.

The team will travel to North Marion High School on Saturday to compete in the Roy Michael Classic then will head to Morgantown on Sunday to finish the long weekend of wrestling.
