Grafton Warriors take first at Elkins

Way to go Warriors!

ELKINS—The Grafton Warriors 5th grade basketball team finished first in the Randolph County YMCA tournament over the weekend in Elkins. The boys overcame a three point deficit at halftime to come away with a 31 to 26 victory over Randolph County.

The Warriors finished the tournament with a perfect 5 and 0 record with wins over the Lewis County Storm, Lewis County Thunder and Randolph County Lightning,

The Warriors struggled offensively in the first half as they were only able to put ten points on the board but came out inspired in the second half to add 21 more to their total.

Isaac Lough and Jacob Maier led the team with nine points apiece followed by Kenny Humphries with six. The remaining points came from Dustin Keener (2) and Harrison Maier (2).

The members of the 5th grade Warriors include Jacob Maier, Cody Cook, Dustin Keener, Kenny Humphries, Isaac Lough, Austin Mayle, Isaiah Vanscoy and Harrison Maier. The team is coached by Bartsel Keener, Eric Maier and Brian Lough.

This was the last tournament this season for the boys, but they will continue to play games over the summer.
