Grafton sends 15 youth wrestlers to states, four bring home first place finishes

MORGANTOWN—The Grafton Youth Wrestling Club competed in the WV regionals is past weekend, at University High in Morgantown.

The club sent 22 wrestlers to the tournament, and 15 of those competitors advanced to the state tournament in Huntington, on March 18.

In addition, there are three wrestlers that have qualified to be alternates if there are open brackets in Huntington.

The young wrestlers had four first place finishers, and they include ,Autumn Knotts, Jeremiah King, Brayden Palmer and Eli Shumaker.

They also had six wrestlers who finished in second place.

They include, Hunter Stanley, Sam Gutshall, Javon Vanscoy, Christian Cox, Dylan Gutshall and JW Nestor.

The following wrestlers are guaranteed a spot in the state tournament in Huntington.

They include, Brayden Palmer, Christian Cox, JW Nestor, Jeremiah King, Maverick Bartsch, Aiden Sheme, Eli McLean, Josiah McMasters, Aiden Smith, Sam Gutshall, Dylan Gutshall, Autumn Knotts, Javon Vanscoy, Eli Shumaker and Hunter Stanley.
