GRAFTON—The Grafton Post 12 American Legion team finally returned to the friendly confines of Upton Field on Monday night, after playing five straight away games. The short trip to the GHS campus was nice for the boys but the seventh inning was not as kind as Clarksburg broke a 4—4 tie with six runs in the top of the seventh to give Clarksburg a 10—4 win.
Even though Post 12 did manage four runs in the contest, Clarksburg pitchers held Post 12 to only two hits.
The two hits were recorded by TJ Summers and Garrett Moats. Summer’s hit came in the bottom of the fifth inning while Moats singled in the second inning.
Post 12 did manage to draw eight walks in the contest.
All four of Post 12’s runs were the result of getting on base with a walk. The runs were scored by Dominic Lough (2), Devin Vanscoy and Mark Irvine.
Chris Miller went the distance on the mound for Grafton, as he threw all seven innings. Miller allowed 10 runs on 12 hits, striking out three and did not allow a walk in the contest.
The next senior game for Post 12 will be this coming Tuesday in Bridgeport. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
