Grafton High School cross country competes in Regionals

BERKLEY SPRINGS—The Grafton High School cross country teams competed in the WV A-AA Region 1 championships last Thursday night in Berkley Springs.

The running Bearcats competed against teams from East Fairmont, Philip Barbour, Fairmont Senior, Frankfort, Ritchie County, Tyler Consolidated, Saint Mary’s, North Marion, Oak Glen, Berkeley Springs, Keyser, Paw Paw, Weir and Wheeling Central Catholic.

In team competition, the girls finished in sixth place, while the boys team finished in 15th place.

In individual competition, the fastest Lady Bearcat was senior Hannah Louzy who placed in 47th place, followed by Aubree Collins in 48th place.

The remaining Bearcat runners were Hannah Moats (65th), Haley Perks (66th), Destiny Walls (71st) and Emma Curry (75th).

The top finisher for the Cats in the boys division was Matthew Cather, as he came across the line in 63rd place. He was followed in by Christopher Loomis in 79th place.

The remaining runners were Austin Saltis (90th), Maverick Ware (104th) and Aaron Pander (105th).

This was the final event for the Bearcat runners this season.
