PHILIPPI—The Grafton High School boys track team competed last week at the new track at Philip Barbour High School.

This was the first home meet for the Colts in over 16 years.

The Bearcats ran to a fourth place finish against teams from Philip Barbour, Tygarts Valley, Braxton County and Notre Dame. The Cats earned 43 points on the day.

In the individual events, Logan Carr had an outstanding meet, finishing first in the 800 meter run, while teammate Logan Miller finished second in the 1600.

The Bearcats had a great day in the relay events, as the team of Dakota Norris, Miller, Matthew Cather and Carr placed first in the 4X800 meter relay.

The relay team of Alex Shelton, Hunter Taylor, Luke Nibert and Blaise Nibert finished second in the 4X100 relay, while the team of Miller, Aaron Pander, Taylor and Cather also finished in second place in the 4X400 relay.

“It is a great venue,” said Coach Wes Norris. “The residences of Barbour County should be very proud of the facility. I am glad that myself and Eva Robinson got to be a part of helping our neighbors put on a nice display of talent,” he added.

The boys will be back in action this Friday, as they travel Rachel to compete at North Marion High School.
