Grafton High School Band Boosters invite you to dance the night away

GRAFTON—Individuals in the area can make plans to dance the night away with their sweethearts, at the upcoming Winter Gala and Supper Club event, sponsored by the Grafton High School Band Boosters.

The Gala will be held on Saturday, February 11, at 7:00 p.m., in the Grafton High School cafeteria. The dress for the event is “casual date night”.

Tickets for the event are on sale now, and can be purchased by contacting any of the band students, or Band Director Chris Rucker. The cost is $30 for a couple, and $20 for single tickets.

“This is the first year we have sponsored this type of event, but we hope to make it an annual tradition,” commented Rucker.

Prices include dinner, dessert, and one chance on a “Romantic Night Out’ gift basket raffle.

In addition, each instrumental section of the band will be putting a basket together to raffle off.

Musical entertainment will be provided by the GHS Jazz Band, GHS band students, alumni and community members. There will be several different genres of music played throughout the night, along with several solo numbers and ensembles.

A dinner of pasta will be prepared and served by the GHS band boosters, along with band students. An array of dessert will also be provided.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go toward the support of the band’s upcoming trip and performance at Walt Disney World, in Florida.

“The students are very excited about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” exclaimed Rucker.

Rucker shared that a few months ago, he submitted a video entry to Disney.  Officials accepted the GHS band to march at Magic Kingdom, on April 10.

He further explained that the band plans to travel to Disney, as well as Cocoa Beach from April 7-12, and that every GHS band student is given the opportunity to make the trip, at least once in their high school career.

According to Rucker, the students of the band have been preforming at Disney, once every four years, since the 1980s.

“It is a great and proud tradition of the GHS band, and we look forward to continuing to represent the school in this manner,” announced Rucker.

The band is compiled of 65 Grafton High students. According to Rucker the approximate cost of the trip is $50,000, and the band boosters, along with the students, have been working all year to raise the funds, which helps keep families from paying a lot of out-of-pocket expenses.

“We invite you to bring your sweetheart, to dance and enjoy the musical performance,” added Rucker.

For more information, or to purchase a ticket, please contact Christopher Rucker, at 304-265-3046. In addition, if individuals are unable to attend the event, but would still like to support the band, tax- deductible donations are accepted.
