GRAFTON—The Grafton Bearcats’ golf team returned to action this past week as they hosted the East Fairmont Bees in their first home match of the 2019 season.
The Bearcats shot a team score of 178 to best East Fairmont’s score of 225 at the Tygart Lake Golf Course on Thursday. The low score for Grafton was a four-under 33 shot by senior Caden Moore, while junior Chris Miller shot a solid round of 40.
Additionally, Gage Colebank shot a 51 and Aaron Weaver shot a 54. Also continuing to improve were Logan Jones and Frankie Springs.
On Saturday, GHS returned to action when they traveled to Marion County for the Marion County Invitational at Green Hills Country Club.
The team finished a respectable 7th place out of the 14 teams who participated in the event.
Caden Moore shot the low round for GHS with a 75 to receive a low medalist award. Chris Miller was right behind Moore with another great round of 77.
Additionally, Gage Colebank shot a 110 and Aaron Weaver scored a round of 118. The Bearcats total team score was 262.
“I’ve noticed great improvement with the new golfers and Caden and Chris continue to shoot low scores and show great leadership to the younger golfers,” said Grafton head coach Ed Moore. “I was also really impressed with the support that was shown at the team’s first home match. I hope everyone continues to come out and support the team.”
The Bearcats return to action this week when they face Morgantown High School at the Pines Country Club on Monday, August 19, before returning home to host Preston, Elkins, and RCB on Tuesday, August 20, at Tygart Lake. Both of those matches are scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
