Grafton earns top seed upon entering Sectional play

GRAFTON —The Grafton High School Lady Bearcats volleyball team had a week of victory and celebration, as they hustled their way into Sectional play.  

Their busy week began on Tuesday, with a match against Notre Dame High School, where the team recognized their senior players with the traditional Senior Night ceremony prior to the start of the game. 

The Ladies of Notre Dame had hopes of dashing the Lady Bearcats’ chances at sectional play. However, GHS rose to the challenge and claimed a 3-0 victory in the match. 

On Wednesday, the Lady Cats would fit the floor again for another match on their journey to Sectionals and would once again see success. 

Grafton captured the 3-2 win over Keyser earning their spot as a top seed and the chance to host the match for the first round of sectionals. 

On Monday, the Lady Bearcat squad went head-to-head with a fierce Frankfort team. The results of this match were not available by press time and will be featured in an upcoming edition of the Mountain Statesman.

Harrison: 2 aces, 14 kills, 6 blocks, Taylor: 1 ace 12 kills, Wellman:  1 ace 3 kills, Hall: 3 aces, Friend: 47 assists
